Mumps!
Oh my where do I begin? About two weeks ago Hayden got a cold. We went to the doctor and we were told it was viral and to just let it run it's course. Well one week goes by Hayden is still sick and getting worse. Friday night he really freaked me out. He was extremely lethargic, crying and running a fever of 102. So I decide to take him to instacare. They did a chest x-ray which was normal gave him a breathing treatment and sent us on our way. Then Parker gets the cold. She was pissy for a couple of days and then she seemed to feel better. Meanwhile Hayden is still sick. Monday came and Hayden seemed to be feeling better. Then he wakes up from his nap screaming. I tried calming him down and then I see the left side of his neck. It looked like a golf ball was stuck in his neck. I freaked out! I put him in the car and raced down to Jordan Valley. We sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes and then an hour in the room. In the meantime the lump starts to go down and he seems to feel better. The doctor basically thought is was some type of bug bite and to give him benadryl and motrin for the pain. We go home Hayden seems fine. I put him to bed. He wakes up at 2:30 am screaming again. Obviously not a bug bite. This time I race up to Primary Childrens. A cat scan and 3 hours is diagnosed Parotitis(Mumps). Funny thing is that he had his MMR shot when he was a year old. Just the other day I was complaining about paying 600.00 a month for cobra insurance on the kids. I am certainly glad I did.

Poor Kid, I hate when my kids are sick and you don't know what is wrong. I hope he gets feeling like himself again really soon.
Holy crap, Jod!!! I was just telling Jake that I haven't talked to you in awhile and now I know why. That really stinks. I hope poor little Hayder's is better. No wonder he was acting like himself lately. Let me know if you need help with anything, -K-
I'm so sorry Jod. I hope he gets better soon! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. ♥ya
How scary! I'm glad you finally got the right diagnosis. Thank goodness you kept the insurance. You definitely got your money's worth with all those tests.
Wow! I hate how the medical world is one guess after another. I'm glad they finally figured it out.
